So can some one explain in lamens terms why I have no presence with the Lamar master volume? Does this mean that there is technically no neg feedback as well?
Is there a trick to get it back when using the MV?

Yes, you can increase the NFB or do what Larry suggests:

I have that diagram sitting on top of my 2203 I built.
I just recently installed the LarMar PPIMV in that and a JTM45/100 build. In the JTM it doesn't really bother me. As a matter of fact I love it.
Maybe because the 45/100 has much more negative feedback in the first place, and I use lower presence settings on it normally.
In the 2203 I have less negative feedback, and plan to do the fixed value presence with the cut control. It will be good to see if that tames the highs that are inherent to that model anyway.

I put both the LarMar and the Type 2 PPIMV in my JTMP 50 and took them both out with in a day. Seemed to make the amp sound sterile, almost solid state and fizzy.
Oh well, just go back to using the attenuator.

I use both. I have an Alex Attenuator, and use the MV to a degree depending on what the situation calls for. When playing at bedroom levels I can get a much better sound than just cranking the Alex down almost all the way.

Yes, I know this is an old post, but the Lamar Mod does sound steril, like all my tone sounds
fizzy. I got excited at first, but the reality is, it just does not sound good. I am very much hoping there
is another adjustment that a person might offer, like a cap to modify or something...it is very convenient
having a second master, but.....if it sound like this, probably will have to take it out.
true my tubes don't break up the same as with Attenuator, but I do like the onboard 2nd Master concept.
Any advice from all of you awesome amp guys out there? The mod stripped out all of my "Crisp" Marshall.....ist tone....
I am probably doing something wrong. All I know, I take it out and all my tone comes back. so help me out!!!!
