I was thinking of changing out the Orange drop coupling caps on my VHT Pitbull to Sozos.
Keeping the values the same of course.
What should I expect as a difference in tone?
I want the amp to get a bit sweeter especially in the mids and highs.
I notice a tonal difference in my marshall using different caps.
Changing Orange Drops on my VHT to Sozos what can I expect?

Orange Drops are more transparent and "Airy" than sozos... If you can, buy one of each and hear how they sound in some kid of a preamp that use only one Cap and change them with a switch while playing. Easier, faster, cheaper... Works 100%.
I've used the design by Nelson Pass, same topology that EP-3 uses, or simple one gain stage JFET amplifier

May be you will need different values for a source resistor if you use this 2sk170 jfet. New production Jfets works too, so you don't have to buy this one. Use higher voltage than 9 volts and less than 30. Jfet have to "breathe". You can place a cap before the gate to form a HPF and to use a 10uf as shown on the scheme for RC coupling or replace it with 0.1 uf caps (Orange and sozo) like in the EP-3 pre, and forget about input caps.

Thanks for the response.
To my ears I prefer the sound of sozos and mallorys.
They give more of a softer tone and "smear" which I like.
I sent my Vht to fryette because it had an issue so I might ask them to do it.
I don't trust myself with that pcb .

Sozos sounds way much better than a Mallory. Mallory it's regular Metalized Polyester cap but in tubular form, so any Wima MKS or some thing of the sort will sound like it. Sozos are different... It's Film and Foil Polyester, which is not common type of a capacitor.

Yeah im liking the Sozos more than the Mallorys.
I know this is splitting hairs but what do the orange drops sound like compared to the Sozos?

More "bottom end", more transparent... It's hard to describe sound in words
I have a Soldano GTO Clone with Orange Drops and this thing has a lot of treble and bass. I aware that it's very different than a Marshall type gain, but I would say that Sozos have more mids I guess than Drops. If your amp is a High Gain kind of "engl-soldano-peavey type" than Drops are way to go. Correct me if I wrong of course, but again, I had no chance to compare these to caps one against the other.
