Precence control squeal

Post by Mars Hall » Mon Dec 22, 2014 7:11 am

Howdy, I have a Marshall 50 watt reissue head that was upgraded with a Metro PTP tag board. The amp has been setting for awhile unused, when I fired it up recently the presence knob presents with a high pitch squeal at about 8 on the dial. Am I looking for a micro-phonic tube?

Sounds like PO.

Check the lead dress - that will fix 90% of those problems, if that does not work try 5k6 or 4k7 grid stoppers between the orange and green wires and pin 5 of the output tube sockets
