I have been thinking about trying a PPIMV on one of my amps, but didn't really want the pot to be inaccessible. Plus I always link the inputs on my 1987 amps, so... I have ordered a couple of dual 1MA pots and a couple of dual 250KA pots. It's always cheaper to buy at least a couple at a time, what with shipping etc!
My plan is to use a dual 1MA where the normal channel volume pot goes, and use it to work on both channels. This does mean that each channel will have the same setting, and the bright channel might be louder, but there are ways around that. Then I want to try the dual 250K pot where the bright channel volume pot goes, so it's in the same place as a master volume on a 2204. for example. Then I will wire up the dual 250K as a PPIMV.
Has anyone done this before? Surely someone must have?? Any issues I should be aware of? I am hoping it will be very neat Easy to put back to stock, too.
Trying a kinda variation on the PPIMV

Re: Trying a kinda variation on the PPIMV
Well if anyone is interested (!) I tried this in a 5F6-A today. The PPIMV sounded crap in that amp, but the dual 1MA volume pot works a treat. So the volume pot is staying, the PPIMV not. It means that I can still use either channel, but if I link them and use both I only need to futz with one knob at a gig. It's cool.
