Outside Copper Shielding On Transformer

Post by echoplexi1974 » Fri Feb 27, 2015 10:11 pm

Hi guys,

I am installing a T2562 power transformer. Does the copper shield on the outside need to be grounded? I'm guessing it wouldn't hurt correct?

Thanks!

It gets grounded when you clamp it onto the chassis. It is just a type of screen around the gaps between lams and coils that can make odd extraneous fields around the transformer.

One of the paper insulators on the transformer screws got a little mangled during the installation. How crucial are those to stay in place? I did a continuity check and the chassis is beeping out to the bell and laminations. Is that OK?

I ditch them all as I use original sized 2 bolt fixing not the 4 corner ones, not sure what they are for really!
