mig-50 master volume mod

I've had a sovtek mig-50 for about 15 years. I'm finally getting around to adding a master volume to it.
When I first got it there was documentation everywhere on how to do it with a 1 meg pot and a couple wires.
I posted on reddit and received some good info, but I still want to double check my understanding.
I'd like to know if my crude drawing looks correct for type 3 for the mig 50?

It looks like others have used A500K pots for this. Would that make a difference?
