Anyone changed their amp from Split Cathode to Shared? Thinking about doing some experimenting. How did you like the results?

Sounds darker and warmer but my low ends are too damn loose now, got that post phase inverter master volume it worked well with the split cathode (69), now might go back stock and use a power brake and see if I can loose those muddy low ends. :(

Might go for the 66-67 filtering specs also, George? you can fill in here anytime now!!!!!!!!!!! :?

Hey let me know yours Dax!

I've gone back and forth a couple times on my two 50's and keep ending up with shared cathodes.
It's just got a little darker tone and less of that cutting edge that the bright channel of split cathodes have. I think it sounds much smoother with my Les Paul or SG, and the slight gain loss is hardly noticeable, I've still got all the overdrive I need with humbuckers.
And even though you've said you're an "exclusively Gibson" guy, you should try a Strat through a shared cathode Marshall. How sweet it is.
If you find you'd like both sounds, or want to be able to switch back and forth to compare the two even, try this with a DPDT push-pull pot for your first volume control:

When switching from split to shared, you leave V2 and V3 alone correct? or do you have to change the wiring on these also?

Nothing to V2 or V3. It's all on V1.
