I currently have a 79 jmp 2203 mv head. Is a point to point board and the two input jacks the only materials needed to convert it to a super lead? Is it worth the trouble to convert it or am I better off selling it and buying the real deal. Side note:Does anyone have any experience playing the thd flexi 50.

Are you saying that someone has already put a replacement PTP board i there? If so, I would say go ahead and mod it to be what you want.
It really isn't that difficult. A few guys here have changed their MV's to superleads and seem to really like them.

You can do a PTP board or rework your stock PCB--the same PCB was used for both MV's and Super Leads. The tricky part is that the MV's cut a trace on the bottom of the board that the Super Leads need, you'll have to "rebuild" that trace.
Is it worth it? Vintage wise it may cut the value of your amp.
Is it worth it tone-wise? You bet your ass it is. My '78 2204 sat there unplayed for a long time until I converted it. It HOWLS now.

I had the same experience. 76' 2204 sat unplayed and sounded like shit. Added the PTP Board and the 2 inputs and now it is my favorite amp.

Its all stock right now. Im actually having it repaired at the moment. The output keeps cutting out. It looks like whatever the problem is its blowing the output tubes. Kind of annoying. I've already had it fixed once and it quit working again in the middle of a gig on tues. Luckily I had a spare tranor head with me. Anyway, I'm not worried about vintage collectability but Im concerned with playabilty. I want the tone of a super lead.

Get yourself a Plexi kit right here from George OR ask him to build you one.
They sound just like the originals 1959
Or you could mod yours with ones of his PTP's boards. You will save lots of do that way and get that TONE

ok, so im definitely gonna get the ptp board to turn my head into a super lead. however, i don't have the money right now since i just paid to have the head fixed. I've heard you can still convert to work like a super lead using the current pc board. I need to find out the details of how to do that. once again, any help is appreciated
