lowering gain on 79 2203

Post by daniel » Thu Sep 30, 2004 12:34 am

I would like to change my pre-amp to the time being to more of a plexi type sound until I can convert the head. I have heard that the preamp is cascaded on these models. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? I'm looking for a young brothers, classic rock kind of tone and I don't need all the gain my head has.

Hi daniel, this change is not all that complicated. We'll be happy to describe what to do.

Have you looked at the schematics for these amps? And are you adept at reading schematics? Or will you need a "move this wire from here to here" type of description?

I don't have any real experience reading schematics, I'm a new comer to all of this. I do own the tube amp book which has an explanation of how to read schematics. I'm sure I could figure it out if I was looking at the circuit board while reading it. The put this wire here description might be the best for now though. Thanks again.
