12XXX build in a 45/100 chassis ?

Post by zephyrblau » Sat Mar 04, 2023 2:11 am

I'm in the parts acquisition phase for a 12XXX build and will use an aluminum chassis. Robert (Valvestorm) recommends against my idea because the 45/100 chassis I want to use is not drilled for a 2 board scenario... and the instructions are better for the '69 (granted) drilling a few holes is NBD.
I don't have exact dimensions of the 45/100 chassis but visually it looks to be (nearly) identical to the 100watt '69 unit.
can do ? am I crazy ? answer the second question first
input please.
TIA

If you don't mind drilling new holes it is simple

I built my first 45/100 on a 12 series chassis (before the 45/100 chassis was introduced)
The plexi panels will not quite line up (unless you have undrilled headbox and line the mounting holes to suit your chassis

The 45/100 and 12 series have different rear holes (the selectors are in a different orientation

It can be done - you just have to be flexible
