You know, I think someone in my family has something vector based. I'll have to check into it.toner wrote:It's much easier to make those "Dwidley Dwidley" ( ) diagrams in vector graphics programs like Illustrator, Fireworks or Corel Draw if you have those available.thousandshirts wrote:Yeah, BB, those are some fine layouts indeed -- BB you are the man. I'll have to give my photoshop the Dwidley Dwidley!
Photoshop has some vector tools but it's still primarily a raster (bitmap) image editor.

Hey guys, with all the recent hoopla in the mods and repais section about Slash's amp #39 or #36 or maybe even #38 that was modded by Caswell, this build gets quite close tone wise... really close in fact. Have you guys thought about doing a layout for this or just editing one of the many layouts out there to reflect the changes that are required? It would certainly take care of the 3 or 4 posts that are currently out there! Slash has seems to be hot topic these days with Sykes and the Jose mod coming in second.

Yes it should be pins 8 and 3.
It's been too long for me to remember and understand why on Earth this picture shows the input and cathode mixed up, but I'm fairly certain the amp wouldn't work if that were the case.
I'm gonna do a bit of tweaking real soon (PPIMV, remove V2 bypass cap, further experiment with gain stages) and I'll take some updated pics.

I've had a few people ask for a layout of this. Please understand, this was simply done in PowerPoint and copied to Paint. I don't have any kind of software that's easy to use, so if it's tough to read or see, there's not much else I can do.
I've had a lot of fun with this spec and it does 80's metal really well. I'll probably start messing around with it this summer, as my JTM 45/100 build is finally done.
For starters, this thing needs a PPIMV I'm also going to tame the gain just a bit, as it's a little much... even for high gain standards.
Updated: 470K resistor prior to plate of added tube was missing.

Update to my last post, I took another swing at this circuit and it sounds better now. I must have made a mistake the first time trying. My hat's off to you WD, this sounds better than what I had before. Much more gain and sustain! I could see why you want to cutt back on the gain a bit, it does have a ton of crunch. That's what I like though ! Oh, I'm also running a Jose master volume with this circuit. Now if I can add an effects loop I'll be set. I PM'd Larry for his loop scheme, nothing yet but he's probably busy.

I had to play with it a bit, as well. I'm glad you got it going and are enjoying it. I haven't gotten back in mine, but I'd first suggest changing the cathodes on the extra tube. Try running both at 10K with no caps. Also, if you have a cap on V2 cathode, take it out. That should round it out a bit better without losing too much edge.
