12xxx testing help please

Post by jbutler » Sat Dec 01, 2007 3:37 pm

just started testing and wanted to get some help before i went onto the next step. some of the voltages off the preamp tubes were a little off from Georges reference chart;not too much, but i want to be sure being that this is my first build:

V1
1- 154v
2- 0v
3- 1v
4&5- 3.48AC
6- 208v
7- 0v
8- 1.92v
9- 3.48AC

V2
1- 167v
2- 0v
3- 1v
4&5- 3.48AC
6- 300V
7- 167v
8- 164v
9- 3.48AC

V3
1- 222v
2- 24v
3- 40v
4&5- 3.48AC
6- 205v
7- 25v
8- 40v
9- 3.48AC

i know they're not too far off but does anyone see any problems with these results?

looks good to me. no power tubes at this point. how about v4, v5, v6 and v7 voltages?

hey rockstah, thanks for the reply.

my power tube sockets were measuring 463v across on standard and 395v on "variac" mode. does that sound about right?

tubed up last night and all works pretty damn well! VERY impressed with the sound, but i think i'll be tweaking for a while.

very impressed with the sound on your clips. you certainly seem to know what you're doing with your builds. i'm not looking to duplicate an EVH sound though. got any suggestions on sweetening to top end and tightening the bottom?

chasis pic link below. not as neat as i'd like but i think it's ok for a first build.
