think i got some of the caps backwards?

1. is the black end of the caps negative, and the black stripe on the Sozo?

2. why do the Sozo numbers not jive with the 68 layout pdf?

3. does how i have the bias pot look right, if i add some turrent lugs?

What do you mean they dont match?

Those are the right values. Perhaps it's the capacitor code that confuses you? For instance, 223K means "22" followed by three 0's, giving you the value in picofarads -- 22000pF or .022uF.

the thing that is confusing me is that the 68 layout pdf George sent me shows .1uf in places where i've got the .022uf?

and then where the .68uf closest to the big F&T cap shows like it should be a 330 or something?

Ralle said it looks like what i've done is a bass amp tone stack.

Yours looks set up right for what George sells as a '68 -- other than the bass tone stack. Earlier Super Leads (and Super Basses through '77 or so) used a 56K resistor and 250pF treble cap in the tone section. The standard '68 as Metro sells it uses the 33K resistor and 500pF treble cap. Some guys like a 330uF cap in place of the .68uF you're using, but stock a 330uF wasn't terribly common -- never say never when Marshall is the question of course!!

Haven't checked the Metro CD in a while, it may have old stuff still on it.

so the tone stack is where i have the 56k resistor and the 250pf treble cap?

It sounds like your looking at the layout for the "brown sound". I've modded my amp acording to this layout and think it sounds great. :D

i don't know? the layout i was working off was a 68 super lead pdf.

i did however spend lots of time looking at your build pictures! thanks for posting those i'd have been really lost without them!

so you've got the 56k & 250pf, instead of the 33k & 500pf?

Hi!

Glad you found my pictures usfull. I spent a lot of time reading throug the forum. Theres so much information here, so many options.

I went with the 33/500. If your after the brown sound there is a lot of information if your search for the "calling rockstah" tread. I also found Leleduke and Ricky Lees pictures really usefull.

i don't have internet where i set up my place to build and saved one of those guys pics to my laptop, but they blured out when i would try to zoom in to read R values etc.

yours are really nice, plus looks like we've got about the same parts with the Sozo and whatnot.

I've changed somethings since i built the amp. I have 0.1 uf in the PI and a 330uf cap in v2. I recently purchased mustard caps that are awaiting instalment. Though I'm not sure if I'll add them. The Sozo's sound really good after the amp's been run in.
