tryin to figure this all out...my little pea brain is gettin overloaded
i see some guys have a bias pot on some of the tabs. is that just being used
as a variable resistor....instead of using one single value rstr.?

That is its function yes; a variable resistor.

SDM is always a good place to seek confirmations http://home.comcast.net/~jbjdav26/1959/ ... ubbers.JPG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Dependent on what PT you have. But it is a great tool.
When you install the pot you need to cut off one of the legs (I guess one could live without cutting it, but as some kind of reminder or something; one leg is abundant). The pot I have is three legged. If you look at it with two of the legs towards you and one in the back - one at the front goes off.
(this is a terrible way of explaining..., a picture is far better than hundreds of words)
