Shannon, I still havent gotten my recording gear up and going yet :o . I remember you posting a clip called something like "No, I'm Not The One" ,when you first got your 12xxx finished. I thought that clip sounded great, but this new clip is just AWESOME.

Yeah, that's dead stock. No master volume. Everything on 10 straight across the the board. Guitar straight in. Maybe I'll do a mash up of some old licks all together.

Man, seriously, put another clip up. That is some serious tone there. Sounds like you got a good match between (your) playing, the amp/speaker cab/guitar and recording technique.12k stewmac in a swamp ash KNE body with a Warmoth neck huh. You got a .0022 on the bright channel or a .022 ?

It's a .022 I think. I've never changed anything from the original build. The 12k Stewmac is screwed into the boby, but its pretty far from the strings with the short legs. I think the swamp ash works well with the maple neck. Its a CBS style with the side adjustment screw.
Oh yeah, the amp is set to the 95v setting. I need to check the actual wall voltage as well. Sometimes it varies here.

Here is about 20 seconds of the intro to YRGM. I dont have soundclick fiqured out yet so I have to keep these small to download.

Blue Yeti YRGM1 is the mice pointed in towards the center but off axis a bit. Ibanez/Greco destroyer with stock Maxon 2000. Split into L/R tracts with Audacity.

Blue Yeti YRGM2 is the mic pointed out towards the cone. Unidirectional. Ibanez/Greco destroyer with stock Maxon 2000. Split into L/R tracts with Audacity. I also turned the mics gain down a little to see what it would do. Its low, so you need to turn it up.

Blue Yeti YRGM3, I went back to the Franky with the 12K Stewmac. I pointed the front of the mic directly at the center and the left side of the mice off axis towards the middle of the cone. I turned on the mics "stereo" function. Keep in mind these mics have three mic heads all in different directions. This automatically splits the tracts into stereo on the screen. I doubled it L/R, added a little delay to the right and decreased the right volume a bit. I'm standing off to the side of the cab and you can still hear my pick. These mics are so sensitive its unbelievable. this tract is much better with headphones.

Guitar is straight in. No EQ'ing whatsoever. The 3rd take is really acting like 2 mics together. Kinda cool eh?

Getting better at this, so it takes a bit of learning to record something decent. :)

The 1st and 3rd clips are best imo. The 3rd clip in particular is FANTASTIC ! That is a GREAT sounding guitar you got there Shannon ! Swamp ash/12k/maple/maple neck. The side adjustment means that you got the /modern' pro construction Warmoth neck. Those truss rods give more snap ,attack and clarity, but tend to lose a touch of warmth (very hard to notice/decipher), that is on average, but Still, I like the immediate dynamic they impart. VERY early Ed, even though Ed used single adjusting rods. You got ss frets on that guitar as well, huh ? KILLER sound Man  .

Yeah, SS frets. Its just one of the Warmouth showcase CBS necks with a quartersawn maple neck and quarter sawn maple fret board. Just added a little gunstock oil to it. With the frets, it was $175.00 I think. And yeah its the Pro adjustment rod thingy. I think they sound great.
Whats so funny about that $40 Stewmac was I just threw it into the guitar when I first built it. I already had the 500K pot soldered to it and the wires to the jack and ground as well. Sometimes being a complete lazy ass pays off eh?

I got a 9k stewMac pu that is pretty good. I've swapped the magnet out a few times (because of the lower ohm reading (9k), an A2 magnet warmed it up, ala Duncan '78, but at the same time LOST precision, as compared to the A5 that came in it). I bet the 12k would be GREAT in my strat. Based on your clips here, I'm gonna get one
Man, these clips of your 'stock' 12xxx has me coming full circle. There is no need for 'unstandard spec' trannies or cascades, etc. THAT tone you waxed there is the SHIT imo !

You have one of the best tones here! Can't see from the pics, is your bright ch coupler 0.022uf or 0.0022uf?
