Pretty quiet, some background noise though. Crappy wall voltage I suspect as all my amps have it. Larry Ground is definitely the way to go.

I'll move the wall ground to the side of the chassis away from the PI bolt and maybe move #5 lug further from the PT.

$25.00 worth of parts from Home Depot. Put the chassis bolts about 1/4 the way down from the top. Added some cheap aluminum flashing to the wood base with some staples. The handles make it easy to carry back to the bench, and it just slides off pretty easy when you bring the bolts up. Easier than sliding in and out of a chassis for now.

Anyone know where George got his headbox's. Mojo? Are they pretty decent?

Ok, no I don't think he did. The quality of those is pretty stellar.

That carrying thing is cool. Mojo head boxes are really great and built exactly like the original ones. George's head boxes seem to be in style of the 60's head boxes. The shelf where the controls are is flat instead of rounded.

Haha, totally true. Well mine is actually a doorstop right now, not a bookend, but I'm slowly saving up for some CMerren iron. This thread and yours, Strat78, are awesome, among several others. Great guides for building a bitch'n plexi, and I thank you all. I'll post up a thread with pics and clips, but it will be a while.

Definately start a thread when your ready, you'll save some major headaches by listening to our mistakes we've made. Those C.M trannies are worth the extra cash if you ask me.

Yeah, between you, Strat 78, and Ralle, I'm sold on the CM iron. I'll pay it, whatever it costs as long as he'll sell it to me. And all the R & D you guys have done is priceless, believe me. Whether or not Ed's output really was a -132 or not during that era, isn't something I'm worried about. I'm sold on what I've HEARD on this forum, not necessarily what everyone is speculating. Don't get me wrong, the speculation is fascinating, and reading everyone's informed opinion is like a mystery novel that never ends, but stays interesting none the less. That's why I come here, just to see what the latest revelation is, here in the 12,000 forum or in the VH forum, it's just fun.

Bottom line is, I'm not Ed and don't want to be, even though I love the guy. Hell I play in a candy-ass, loud, echo-ey pop band. I've had a few plexi 100-watters in the past. But I want to know what it feels like to rage on a beast like this. And I will, thanks to you guys and your hard work. Someday soon...

If you don't have an airplane hanger to play in, you will need a good attenuator. These amps are not for everyone either. My buds that grew up on the high gain MV amps of today absolutely love the sound I get with a 12000. They give it a try and fall flat on their faces trying to control what's coming out of the speaker. Bottom line is it's an instrument within itself and it takes a lot of practice to make it sound like it should. I've been playing one for over a year, and it's still a big challenge.
Fact is, most people have never played with full power tubes being overdriven within the tone. Thinking a MV amp is the same as attenuated amp is a big misconception.

I had a POD Line 6. I traded it for a few quads of power tubes.

PT has lots of sag. Light indicator dims with a well struck note.

I hear you on the challenge of taming something like this, that's what is so intriguing. The danger. I wonder if I'll feel like a kid again when it's cranked up? The possibilities seem endless.
