Hi guys. Just got my next 67/68 build underway. All NOS parts will be used (Pihers, Mustards, Eries, cloth tube retainers, etc.) So far...I have installed NOS Amphenol and McMurdo tube sockets, wired the heaters, soldered in the 1 ohm biasing resitors, and added the faceplate, pots and jacks. This time around I will be adding a couple small gain mods, and a LARMAR master volume. Here is a pic of the preliminary heater wiring. More pics to come.

Were you able to get that pre amp erie 32/32 cap to form ? I'm on my second erie and this one also won't form below 16v. Either these nos caps are leaky as hell or I'm doing somthing wrong. :x

Are you referring to my last 67/68 build? My Erie 32/32/350v cap was already reformed by Sparky about 3-4 months before I used them (thats who I bought it from). My 67/68 plays and sounds like a champ with it installed. I just stuck it in an hoped for the best. My other caps were new and I did not reform them either. Got lucky I guess.

I have taken to forming caps on a separate rig. Using 220k resistors for each cap section. You need a variac, a PT and a bridge rectifier. Output of the bridge rectifier goes goes to the line going to the individual 220k resistors connected to each cap section. You need the variac to ensure that you do not exceed the voltage rating of the various caps you might form. Also need alligator clips to form caps that you don't want to solder yet.
