Thought I'd start a new thread for this. Waiting on some NOS components and a few doodads from Valvestorm before really getting into it.

Made a larger cradle to hold eveything. This one has wheels so I can move it around the house. Just built it on an old cheap computer desk. Had found the desk in someones trash. Added some brackets underneath. $25.00 0f wood from Hommie-depot.

Some position shots of tranny positioning. 1.5" and 2" Mercury's with the 2.2K primary. The 1.5" will just fit but the 2" is going to have to move away from the PT by about 3/4" I think.

1.5" and 2" tranny as it sits close to the PT. I'm thinking if its the 2" I go with, move it the other way and drill the other side?

These new Mercury brackets are pretty cool.

The 2" is a little easier to mount with the other style brackets.

That's what I'm gonna do with my 2", but I have the regular vintage style brackets. Those MMs are pretty trick looking though.

That's what the old MM VZ's used to come with, they are borring but....nevermind, I would just file out the newer brackets for the grommet openings, they look much better.

Yeah, I would just mark the brackets carefully, where the grommets need to go, and use a round file on them. I need to elongate two of the chassis holes as well... tried to use the grinding bit on the dremel and chassis steel ate it for lunch! A nice rat tail file had no problems with the steel...

I moved the whole OT over away from the PT. Screws for the PT are too short. Had to remove the black bushings. MAy get longer bolts if possible.

So you moved over the OP to keep things quiet, or what? I'm drilling my chassis today and I was gonna just drill two holes for the OP but maybe I should just drill four and scoot it over a bit? Right now there's 1 3/8" between the laminates of the PT and the bell of the 2" OP.

It was just easier to move it over 3/4' away from the PT. You just end up drilling 4 little holes and 1 larger one for the OT primaries. I could have filed the brackets, but still would have drilled 2 smaller holes for the 2" OT difference anyways.

Oh okay, because of the MM brackets and trans. I'm using the vintage style ones with a Marstran and they don't line up perfectly either.
