Where can I find a Marshall Major for sale?

Post by Vintageamps » Mon May 07, 2012 3:21 pm

Hi everybody!
Im new to this forum, and dont know where to post this. Im not sure if anyone can help either, but I thought I'd might give it a go :)

Im currently looking for a Marshall Major. Might even be a repair project / parts. I search ebay every day, and I have contacted many of the known UK vintage amp dealers. So far, no luck.
Anyone have any good ideas where to look?

Just got to get my hands on one or two of these beasts :)

I have built a few amps, and restored some old ones as well. I was fortunate enough to be able to buy one of the last Metro-kits available. It turned out great :D

I have the contact email of a guy who was selling one on TGP in January. It hadn't sold as far as I know. Email me for it.

I have a headshell, a board, an output transformer, a chassis with all the sockets and sub boards still installed. Is a late 70 or 71 model. Complete control set and original wiring with knobs. Board has been stripped of all components.

I don't know what it's worth to you. An original OT is $1200, and a MM tranny is just under half that.

I have a 71 that I might consider selling. Has 6550s, and previously had twist locks added to back panel of headshell for speaker outs. Amp is in original state, except for the twist lock in the back panel.

There's one on Detroit craigslist right now. Looks decent at first glance, I'll check the pics again.

Looking closer, the PT has been changed on that Major.

There's someone selling a 1969 major in our country. But I guess shipping/VAT would kill you. I'm from the EU. (Czech republic) Also the head cab was restored (not very nicely imo) and the panels are not original as well (they're black). Electrically it should be original though. He's trying to sell it for pretty long time. More than six months I think. Our bassist emailed him couple months ago and he wants 23000 kc for it which is approx. 1180$. But I'm sure you could talk him into lowering the price - it seems no1 is interested in buying here. http://hudebnibazar.cz/inzerat.php?ID=6 ... rder=datum" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This is it. You can email him for more photos.
