Looking to build an amp

Hello I am new and I am looking for opinions on which would be the best amp to build to get close to the Eddie Van Halen sound like the first album.....I can't make up my mind whether to put together the 12000 series or just a regular 69 to 74 1959 circuit with 68 spec filtering....I don't know which would be better...any help would be appreciated...also I only see the early 68 chassis at metro and can't find the 69 style chassis....where could I find these....thanks in advance...

12,000 would be the better start point for EVH, and give you the flexibility to do just about anything you want to change. Especially if you go for the dual voltage PT from metro.
