32uf to 16uf?
This has probably already been covered but here goes. I've got 2 x 32x32uf cans in series paralelle on the screens for a total of 32uf. If I cut the wire between the two positive terminals on each of the cans will that give me 16uf, or do I need to buy 2 x 16x16uf cans to do the job properly? Would there be any issues with voltage handeling? If I can do it can I still leave the resistor in place between the + terminal and ground on each can?

Re: 32uf to 16uf?
You would then have two 32uF 450 or 500v cans in series which would give you 16uF with 900 or 1000v capacity. No particular reason to use 16+16 unless you happen to have some.
The resistors are not vital an are just there to balance the load of the two cans (also bleed the circuit when switched off. You can still use them as long as they are hooked up to the cans kept in circuit.

Thank's Neil. Another little question for you, was there a perticular value of bright cap used more often than not on the 69/ early 70's 50Watt's?

AFAIK just the 5000pF ceramic disc LEMCO ones that era.revolver1 wrote:Thank's Neil. Another little question for you, was there a perticular value of bright cap used more often than not on the 69/ early 70's 50Watt's?
