It looks like I should have one of these, does anybody know the best place to buy one from?
And if so, which one?
Thanks,
Jerry G

This is by no means an endorsement, but here is one:Jerry G wrote:It looks like I should have one of these, does anybody know the best place to buy one from?

Yes, thanks again for the info, I would have no trouble buying used.elronhoover wrote:This is by no means an endorsement, but here is one:Jerry G wrote:It looks like I should have one of these, does anybody know the best place to buy one from?

You can definitely find them cheaper, probably with lower amperage rating and no ammeter. I bought an NOS General Radio raw-frame variac from a guy off usenet years ago for $40 and built my own chassis for it.
Maybe somebody on here has a lead on some others..

Thanks, that seems right in my ballpark, I would assume all I need is the 5 amp.Brian Wallace wrote:I use one of these for 50 and 100W amps.

You can also get a 20A version if you feel the 5A one is too small.

Of course there are a ton of used ones as well.
