My Diezel herbert needs to be recapped 22uf 500v ones ...Im thinking about either the ruby gold's or F&T ..which do u guys prefer? also finally going to buy me a bias meter so i can bias myself and not have to mess with taking it to my tech everytime. I tend to swao and trade amps alot these days so it would be nice to do it myself. Plus the Diezel i can run any combo of power tubes I choose from 6 of the same to 2 of what ever 6l6,el34', kt77, kt88. I went from el34's to kt77's and it sound pretty dang good with the 77's in there but I miss some of the runchyness of the el34's so I might throw 2 el34's in there to see how i like it.

as far as bias meters go the ones Im looking at are

webber br-4
amphead
reg ol bias rite
maybe a compu-bias (alittle more then i want to spend really)
Ive read a few bad things about the eurotubes meter as far as if you make a mistake it could be bad for my health lol but i guess any mistakes high high voltage would have negitive effects on my health.

I don't know about eurotubes probes being bad for your health, but I don't like those where you have to install an ammeter inline. Meter comes out and you lose your tube ground (poof). Potential bad news.

If you have a half decent multimeter with a mV scale (preferably NOT an auto-ranging meter, unless you have to have a VERY good one) I'd just go for any set of probes that already has a 1ohm resistor installed so as you are measuring across it in milliVolts. Any where you have to measure in milliAmps are inline with the cathode and have that disaster potential.

I bought one of these (http://www.amp-head.com/product_info.ph ... ucts_id=31" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) to do all my biasing they work great because they're a through socket that doesn't effect the function of the amp at all which is good. The nicest thing about them is you can switch back and forth between the tubes so check each bias. For what it is the price point is very high but for the ease of biasing its worth it!! Another thing you can do is do a bias mod to your amp where you attach Banana plugs to resistors and hook it up to your tube socket. but you'd probably be best with sending that to a tech.
