JTM 45/100 vs 1986 JMP 50

Hey guys,
New here, but have been reading for a few years. I currently have a JMP 50 Bass spec clone and am considering getting another Marshall flavored amp. I am big Kossoff fan but also like Cream, Doyle Bramhal II, Hendrix, the usual suspects. I have been drawn towards the JTM 45/100. But have never had a chance to play one.
I am curious how much overlap there would be between my current 1986 and a JTM 45/100? I don't really like to have redundancy, but if they are different enough, I'd go for it. Also, thoughts on the Dickinson mod to make this more/less different from the 1986?
Thanks for your help guys!

In my humble opinion, the most notable difference is in KT66 v. EL34. Your JMP50 has EL34 tubes.
If you have a JMP 50W amp and went to get closer to Cream / Hendrix type stuff, you are leaning correctly toward the JTM 45/100. You will not be disappointed. These amps are warmer and have more high end sparkle thanks to the KT66 tubes, yet they don’t get too overly fender saggy.
I recently had a potential customer over. My intention was to go chronological, so he started with my JTM 45/100 and was blown away. He then played my 12xxx build, followed by my Bassman build. He liked all three for different reasons (as does anyone with a decent ear) but had no problem deciding the JTM 45/100 was exactly what he wanted. Interestingly, he wasn’t looking for the Cream / Hendrix thing…he’s a big John Frusciante fan and was getting some AMAZING Chili Peppers tone.
The 12xxx is and always will be my personal favorite, but the JTM 45/100 is a great compliment. Tight enough to be a Marshall but less hair and really full tone. George did us all a favor by bringing that circuit to our attention.

Oh, yeah!! Still here.
New firewalls at work. Sometimes I get in, sometimes not.
