Wow that amp sounds great! I checked out the pics of the inside too. Looks like art as usual! Looks like JTM layout but with .022's in the output? What cap is that on the V1 cathode? Bright cap value?

This is the amp I'm looking for, but I don't see this amp in the catalogue of Plexi replica. All I see is the JTM45 head, no 50 watters there.

Is the 50w kit that was in the store a while ago a close approximation of this one ?

This is the model I'd like to build! Some info on this would be welcome, the difference between a 1987 and a jtm 50. Is it a jtm 45 with el34 tubes and tube rectifier ?

So, in short, 1987 is a model (50 watts) that comes in a different flavors in the handwired period, all uses EL34 tubes, the JTM50 which uses a tube rectifier (like the JTM45) and the JMP50 that uses a solid state rectifier. So now today what we call a "1987" is in fact a JMP50.

Essentially yes. My understanding is that 1987 is the circuit designation used by Marshall. The original schematics would have been labled "1987", "1986", "1959" etc. JMP50 is more of a general name. 50 Watters from the JMP era would have included 1986 (bass circuit), 1987 (lead circuit) and some other variations as well (P.A. etc). So "1987" is a bit more specific. I believe the 1987 designation may have continued in use even after the JMP era, so 1987 does not automatically mean JMP. It means "50watt lead circuit". Someone may correct me, but this is my understanding. As far as the JMP era goes, I believe that would be from some time in 1967, until some time in the late 70's or thereabouts.

I also read that the JTM to JMP designation came from the fact that M. Marshall's wife Terry and him broke-up. JTM meant Jonh-Terry-Marshall, going to JMP (John Marshall Products).

The 50 watts kit is flavored from a jmp era or a jtm ? I guess JMP cause there'S no tube rectifier in the kit right ?

I should be clearer on that last point... Is the 50 watts kit that was on sale here in the metroamp store, being a 1987 (Lead), more jtm or jmp flavored ?
