Neil Zlozower early VH book
Have you guys seen this book? I got it as a Xmas present and barely looked at it until this week. Really great shots of the early days, including the infamous VH1 studio shot. #121301 right there in all it's glory with 6CA7's. The Schaffer wireless sitting on the cab too. I've got to try one of those with my '68 plexi and see if it does VH1 tones.

Great book with interesting shots for sure. I picked up a schaffer vega replica that I plan to try on my metro friedman once I get the amp back. It seems promising for VH2 to my ears maybe even VH1 (at least from online clips). I bet it will be nice and overdriven yet woody on your 68 or 12 series replicas. Hopefully more member will post clips.

Yep, an awesome book.
I got it when it first came out. Great pics of the band in during the golden era.
If you enjoyed that George, I highly recommend the other one he did that's specifically Ed.

Really cool pics in that one too.

Dude... he really did have a Schaffer? Solo Dallas told me that and showed me the pic. I forgot about that. You do know that it does add gain right?

Adds gain? No
Again.... I got roasted by several here on this.
As I understand not so much gain really but a shape to the signal and compression in a unique way.
Very well could be that "missing link".
Seems to work for solo dallas for the angus thing but VH is still in question as the testing has not been thoroughly through the "metro scrutiny treatment program"

I'll touch base with SoloDallas. We need to hear it through a real 12 series era Superlead.

He was sharing a booth or near Friedman at NAMM. He has lots of videos through his Marshalls.VelvetGeorge wrote:I'll touch base with SoloDallas. We need to hear it through a real 12 series era Superlead.
