Great clarity in your playing, very accurate! Just the right amount of gain, and well mixed!

You're getting a more authentic sound out of the 5150III than Eddie is. Sounds great!

As usual you deliver some great stuff everytime.
I still dig your JVM HJS tones. This sounds stellar and totally great on its own but I think the HJS sounds more vintage marshall authentic.
Have you tried the 6 band with the HJS?

Nicely done sir!
And your making my point! 5150 III can do classic VH. Well.

Wow, that's the best I've heard yet! Qs:

> Pickup?
> How loud was it?
Other than that, to my ears the IIIs have lacked just a little depth and clank. I think it's partly the 6L6s, but really not sure. Either way, that was great man, tx for posting.

Thanks. I agree. Yeah the 6 band brings the HJS to life, highly recommended.dirtycooter wrote:As usual you deliver some great stuff everytime.

- Stock EVH Wolfgang pickup
- 3 on the dial. Same volume as a decently loud drummer. I could have recorded it louder but wanted the test to be useful for real people in real situations.
Lacking depth, definitely not. In the room there is very little with a tighter, fuller bottom end. Couldn't capture it down a single SM57. Depends on your definition of depth though. No it's not as rich, organic and 3D as a Plexi, but that's why we have plexis! In terms of punch, clarity and note definition it's up there with the best channel switchers on the market in my opinion. The feel is a compromise, as with all switchers, but again, that's why we have single channel amps!
My biggest beef with it is the tighter feel; it can be hard work. But for performance/price is is irreplaceable. Tried and failed several times, including some high dollar stuff.
Thanks for the compliments fellas!

Re: My EVH 5150 III doing Fair Warning in HD
That really sounded great. I am with you on digging the 5153.
Have you tried using the EVH Frankenstein PUP in one of your guitars and using a similar setup ? I did this and found there was a difference in the tone, I thought for the better for older VH. I liked the stock Fender EVH Wolfgang, but the Frankenstein PUP brings out some different character. Kind of hard to describe, but with your talent on playing, it might open up some new tasty tones !

Thans dudes!
I have used a Custom Custom, which is more or less the same thing I believe. Wonderful pickup and one of my favourites. It's like the Wolfgang pickup but with a more buttery midrange and looser lows. Definitely in the same ballpark but more vintage vibed. You make me wanna put one in a Strat!Megaro wrote:That really sounded great. I am with you on digging the 5153.
