Rosen interview and obvious awesomeness Q's
Ok , so late to the party here but if you have not listened to this interview , phew , its just pure hang yer gitar up cause its over for you son . Ed has come to town . But really its inspiring , it shows the technique in spades "WITHOUT" a freakin amp and just like Spanish fly like I yell and promote , but its far more than that . You hear the 'kid' with a lightly amplified sound and an acoustic sound together just slaying your hopes of some day I can , as he does. Slams it . His strings are being so manipulated I ask this.... WHAT STRINGS WAS HE PLAYING ?
Yeah , interviews are cool and this one is epic , but what the F&%$^ ? It had the tone , it was live , it was their . Was it not ? So it stands to reason what the %($*%&%&%*($ ? He blows us away with the live , impromptu , just noodling shizzle as a NOW thing . He rips into some stuff it you listen close that is epic , I work on ripping like that NOW these days and finding out takes like this is phenominal .
Soak it up , that's a days gone bye . Ed shredded on a Fu&***9jin nylon acoustic guitar via SPANISH FLY . Talk to me when you can shred that nylon . I spent hours upon hours to do it and when it hits you , BOOOOOM . You now rule the world. Develop some vocals , inpire your work from life speed and share it with us ! I promise you if you do not click with this road map E mail me or mail me from this place and I will walk you through it . And you will blow this forum away .
Yeah , its an innocent interview , but what a powder keg ger . Loved it , Thanks

I don't think of course there is any difference in his playing than it is hoarked out through his marshall.
What I do hear is him noodling like this alot unplugged. And not just in this interview either. There many snippets of him doodlin around sittin on a chair or couch fiddlin around non chalauntly during these probes by interviewers.
Lots of time spent here first. Its like its his main thing before anything else plugged in ever was.
And if anyone listens closer? Well all that string rattle and tell tale artifacts of strings clankin and buzzin here and there and not just in this interview alone too, blows that high action theory outta dodge.

Brainwshed ? Brainwashed (sp) what do you mean ? I heard some fire and raw tone . In particular a very brief point of some shredding . I like when you can hear a stripped down tone . In fact many guys play like that to hear the stripped down tone. Because you need to sound right acoustic before you can turn it up. Many of us us a thin electrified tone without distortion to better here the shred dynamics when picking . Paul Gilbert would be one who will tell you that . I think your calling me brain dead . And for that your probably not reading much of what I have posted here for a long time. Motorhead I used to work at the Kramer factory and used to visit with Ed and watched him play on many occasions through a simple Peavy 15 watt practice amp with an 8 inch speaker , a combo. And he makes a mild manner practice amp scream . Its my way of saying if you listen a bit here , you can here some of his aggressive attack and working of the notes to get a sound. If I am brain dead why would I suggest Spanish Fly as a little ditty to look into ? It has raw shred all day long and is an archetype for anyone to look closely at . That is the real live without a net . Steel strings are far more stiff than a nylon guitar . And my point being for a shredder , you do not get a better glimpse at shred phrasing and technique than that . Perhaps some Malmsteen on an acoustic or Zack Wylde on Stillborn or Mediteranian Sundance with Paco De Lucia , John McGlauphlin and AL Dimeola comes to mind . But , I am brain dead . So what would you recommend Motorhead if you were going to actually help our playing along here . I have thick skin and am not offended if that was your intent , so I just say what is it you have to offer that you belittle over . Your insight must have some guts to it , right ? I eagerly await. The board here has had a hard time recovering from when it went down , which I find hard to believe . Because it sucked when this thing was disappeared . So now its back , and I tried a few times to shake it up a bit , but I guess we have a ways to go . Maybe Motorhead can scroll down and tell us about what inspires him and we can move forward some .

Just look at his posting history... You'll see all his posts are similarly negative. Don't let him troll you.plexified wrote:Brainwshed ? Brainwashed (sp) what do you mean ? Thanks for the bump . I am not worried about a situation . It still can yield some learning and movement . I really do not mind any position honestly . I think we can handle any criticism , if that is what it is , and grow. He may have meant ...a wood shed is involved and that is where we go to 'classically described ' work out our stuff . And that is cool too . Imagine a small quarantined wooden shed in the backyard. Cast we go to find 'it' or 'something' . That's a real event in the process. Quarantined without light comforts and such to focus on your short comings . If you do not know what it is like to feel the lowest of lows , feeling like utter trash in your persuit of the ability or blessing to play than your probably not on the right path . I remember telling my friends that I was trying to play guitar and they always wanted to hear me play and I was not even able to . I had played many instruments in my schools , but this time I was the most introverted possible . It was almost painful to think of someone hearing me . I played through headphones and so low or acoustic for years , and I just felt that until I got to a point NOBODY would hear me . I was forced to play as a kid at a huge party where we needed to use generators and I got to plug into a huge Marshall stack and when I did it was my worst nightmare . It was a massive tone , loud and gritty , but it had such a lacking saturation and sustain , and since it was someone elses guitar and gear I was in NO MANS LAND. I will never forget that . I know Ed has been their too , because of his approach to pedals and gear he brought to outdoor gigs or festivals . I almost died inside that night . You work and work and you get pressured into a situation that is worst case scenario and it is like dying in slow motion . It hurt inside . It was the opposite of what we want to do . People said it sounded great , but to me , inside I vowed to never experience that again . It was the absolute worst possible case scenario. I played the entire spectrum after that like a chameleon, spot on like clockwork to cover the bases . All the worst case scenarios were taken into consideration . If I had been called out to play a 10th century lute with animal strings I would have killed it . But , it never could replace or redeem my experience. I have that time in my DNA to this day and till I die . I smile at times because that scenario has come to fruition hundreds of times when asked to play with others gear and sub standard stuff. I cringe , but I know what it is now and pick and choose battles . Only a few times I absolutely said no . Like a fried that had a kiss signed guitar at a party and its like a cardboard piece of trash with a blah blah blah , I had to say , no I do not think anyone could get a sound here . But for real it does not stop , I have been in studios with Grammy producers that want something like a three way wah wah track for a rap tune and It turns out cool , but I am destroyed with the results I do not like . So what you strive for is paramount . It shapes your goals and your drive for results . Do not ever compromise this and if you ever do , trust me it will hurt pretty bad . That outdoor show as a kid destroyed me . I played acoustic for a long time and volume was a sign that I was building confidence . You wanna roar with a full on plexi ? You better know your about to meet your maker or your just stunting . Do front end wheelies on your sport bike or some other stuff that takes a lot of concentration , BUT , expose your soul at 125 db , skull resonating , you better have your stuff together or your just a clown.

Hey Jimi ,
I think were past just a comment , the big thing I wanted to convey is just that you have to have epic failure to find epic success . Nobody should fear , just go for it . If you fail its an awesome opportunity . You perhaps want to strive to learn from failure and even better learn from others failures , that why I painted that picture. I went for it knowing that Ed had epic failures too and he was pissed , embaressed and showed us that with two rigs its not enough and at times he had three . In survival one = none and two= one . Its a backup plan defined . That's just for survival or live stuff . Studios cost a lot of money I learned and I had avoided costing the host money by being prepared for epic failure. That's just money , but a live show is a lot of people and last thing you want is bad press . We know people talk over the dinner table or now adays live on social media with pictures and live video . SO , your emergency tonal toolbox will include some smart stuff if your wise. I have my main rig a Plexi 12 series and a vintage Ampeg V4 both period correct halfstacks . Some Eq pedals and distortion boxes , delay , flange , chorus , dyna comp , analog pre amps solid state amps and a full Zoom G 92.tt digital pedal board . I can go straight into the house soundsystem with that board or run my big rig with my own microphones and full analog compliment . A back up wah and the sanity that if I have to I can use my zoom as my entire pedal board into the big rig for pedal nirvana . I use my Kendrick/Trainwreck Climax combo with 2x10 Webers as well . A compliment of a cloned Jensen P-10r and a cloned Celestion blue that slays . Mic it front or back , use the onboard reverb or wire it for a pedal controlled lead boost and on and on . The Climax kills through a 4x12 as well being the ultimate tone monster for me . From SRV to EVH and everything in between and then factor in the Zoom digital board . I can plug it in direct to the Climax or run it in the pseudo reverb loop and even patch in pedals in the zoom effects loop . Its the ultimate . I got their from experiencing failures and vowing to never be caught with my pants down. Because I wanted to go home with the hottest chick in the venue , not epic fail and going home pissed off . Remever epic failure leads to epic solutions . Learn from mine instead of experiencing it like I did and Ed did too. Ed drove home from a party with some several thousand people to get gear to fix epic failures ! I didn't learn from that as I had my own , but it was nice to read I was not alone . Go ahead and break some shit and fall on your face , the experience is so worth it . Scars of life man , they last forever!
