Incredible performance. Dated as 1971. At about 2:20, I am thinking that sounds similar to the Mean Street slap / tapping technique.

that guy is making some weird flamenco on a acoustic guitar with steel strings... yeah, some slapping in the minute you said, but overall is an aberration if you know something about spanish music.

Wow what a monstrous performance. Had forgotten how incredibly good Roy was. That's a dude who loved playing some strings.
Slap thing isn't Mean Street-ish but very cool. You'd never hear that body-banging on an electric. But the percussiveness is for sure Ed. He always has a lot of drummer/rhythm things going on.

Yeah , Roy inspired me as a small kid on he haw , then I found Dolly Pardon . It was kinda over from their. Jerry Douglas is a good modern inspiration on the Dobro and Allysin Krause is an angel to support the soul shaking experience. Its fun to think back when you were a kid , before you were a rocker and some of the stuff that was really beautiful . We get to embrace our grandparents here with their lives and stories and that becomes cars and songs and memories of great times. Thanks Roy! Oh lastly , those shows where a guy and gal would play some ten instruments in one night taking turns on solos and song or vocals is just amazing. Dig into some blue grass folks , Sonny Osbourne and Flatts and Scruggs will lift you up man and then go buy a mandolin at a garage sale for like ten bucks and lean to play Zeppelings Battle of Evermore and life will be good for you and that's not mentioning the girls you might meet if you visit a horesmans show . How do you love me now ?!
