Hey guys , been a long while since posted anything on the forum
moved to Denver about a year or so ago.
So have been building up the gear again while out here
Hope everyone doing well --- still see some familiar names floating around !
Since this is my favorite place for all things Van Halen / thought I would post a brief 1 minute clip
of a recent addition to my pedal board - Wampler Faux Tape Echo /
really wanted to get a Strymon unit but, heard Brent Mason demo this pedal on YouTube and thought I would try it out
Dialing in that very elusive EVH one repeat echo that is just behind the is about impossible but, I think I got it
the very last portion of clip is some Voodoo Queen riffage that makes the repeats pop.
oh yeah - the Flanger is an old school DOD AC powered Flanger --- Had one when I was younger and just grabbed another.
here is link to clip

Re: EVH with a Wampler Tape Echo
TJ,
That sounds pretty good but more like reverb than an echo. Do you or can you set a specific delay time or is it just turning a knob. I think that's what makes the Echoplexes so wonderful in their simplicity. Pretty easy to dial in one slap. Here is what I use as a guide from 1977.

That is an excellent sound quality reference that rgorke posted. It sounds to my ear like two fast, hazy slaps.

Roger
That is the reference I do use also
Awesome you would post that
When I made clip , I split track and did add
Reverb
Should not done that
Probably didn't help demonstrate the effect
Properly
