The only drawback is that they can add a decent amount of hiss if set too extreme.

Yeah mostly noticeable doing quiet parts. Eddie must have only used this on eruption with the EC80, to drive long cable runs occasionally and the odd use early on for lower output guitars. It’s just too gainy otherwise! I also have a 70’s line driver/ gate at the end of my board but I never use the noise gate function.

Here’s another clip without and with MXR 6 band and also using Ozone 9 Match EQ this time! Interesting how ‘smooth’ Ed’s EQ profile is compared to mine with troughs across the mids and highs. The Match EQ can assist quite a bit in smoothing, boosting and cutting the right frequencies.
