Hey'Zeus! MUCH better tone on this video. Master Ed's already losin' the hibernation layer, he's gonna be cut by halfway through the tour again! Outstanding!

Wow!! Waaaaaay better shape than he was in on the last tour. Even the sound is legible and pretty awesome in thiese vids compared to 07/08. Hope my bitchen about it was the deciding factor  . He attempted cathedral when i went and he played maybe 3rd of it and gave up on it as he just wasn't able to get in the zone. Never seen Ed play so horrible. Well, hes got his shit back together like he did in 95.
Ed, we're proud of you man!! Glad you're feelin better and back on the top of that mountain again

The best I ever heard EVH was on the 1998 tour with Gary Cherone. They were playing old songs again and you could tell they were excited about it ... they were tearing it up ... that is the only time the Roth and Hagar material was being played together and it made for a wonderful set-list.

I won't say it was better than '84 when I saw them but from the videos I've seen of the 98 tour he was in pretty damn good form. It's too bad Year to the Day is buried forever now.
Interpretation?! I thought I was playing it right!

Thanks for sharing this link. I totally agree with a few others who posted. The best I ever saw Ed play in a live situation was on the Cherone tour. He also really tore it up when I saw him live in Chicago playing the Jason Becker concert. He seems to have all his chops again - great, great thing to see/hear.

This is also as /78 brown as I've heard yet via the internet or live the last tour. A little nasally and compressed for my taste still but it is still unique and great in it's own way.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Ed was playing great on that tour! I did not care for Charones stage antics but I liked the way he sang the old stuff, and Ed was tearing it up!!!!! as he is now, thank god!!!!!!

This is almost storybook. If you wrote a book of fiction about a such gifted musicians making a comeback of this magnitude no one would belive it. It would seem more like fantasy. What a wonderful time to be a Van Halen fan, or even a rock fan. They sound spectacular.

Cool trick at :19 seconds. He knows it too, the way he looks at the crowd like,"check this out." I like how that red button (I think it is) acts like a kill switch. Randy les paul trick but a faster trem sound with dive bomb. Killer.
