The "Unplugged" Videos...

"Beautiful Girls": Dave's voice sounded weak, as if it was about to give out. I'm not complaining, but I am surprised they released that take.

"Panama": I thought it really kicked ass, and it really impressed me. Dave's vocals sounded strong on this one.
I especially like the extended jam in the middle. It sounded as if it was completely improvised.

"You And Your Blues": I thought it sounded pretty cool. The background vocals were quite decent. I especially liked the intro where Dave talks about making assumptions. I totally fell for it and ASSumed...

Does anyone knows what guitar Ed used in these videos?
I assumed it was one of those rare super high-end acoustics.

I don't know if you can get more more out of Dave these days ... 53 years old, 30 years screaming on stages around the world, smoking, drinking, etc eventually catches up with you!

I still think he rocks though ... and I hope they release more live material in the future! What you point out is partly what prevented the release of any DLR live material, with VH or in his solo career.

I didnt hear much if any straining. If fact I am in awe of some of the notes he is hitting. I thought he couldn't reach those notes anymore. I will go back and give it a re-listen when I get a chance.
