So been dinkin with this thing and discovered it has really nice delays. Had it forever and never messed with it alot due to its cumbersome interface to program it. Kinda in the vein of bein most like my sde1000's that I had. The delay just has this weird timber to it I can't put my finger on. The stec records site has a dedicated page for this box and is really helpfull. Finally got my two secondary delay patches selectable with my midi controller and my aux switch I was usin with my factor pedals can toggle the input on/off given me spillover.
However after reading up on its hardware and internal goodies it may be that the same processor used to create that lex reverb is used to create the delays. Maybe why it has such nice tone to the delay? I mean they have to use a very complex multi tap delay to create digital reverb algos.
The G2 is identical to an mpx 1 except in two regards-it has the analog fx pregain path and true 24 bit converters as an upgrade. Now converters bein 12, 16, 18, 20, 24 bit means nothing really. The sde series is coveted and no where near even 20 I think.
Has anyone a/b'd an mpx1 and g2? Heard lots of good about the mpx1.
Comparing the straight digital delays against the tc gforce, timefactor, line 6 echo park digital mode, it nudges out the timefactor by having this ghost midrange area thats there but isn't in your face there. Acheiving that "sits well in the mix" effect.
I think all of us try to find delays that do this exact thing. Plus as it fades away its like almost an e.q. shift keeps the right amount of hi content still prominent on the repeats to the quietest last repeat. Others just mush out here in this regard and sound generic.
But I am wondering if the older mpx1 have that "crusty vintage low bit tone" thing more so??
I spend alot of time playin around with delays and comparing and tweakin and e.q. ing or doin other weird stuff. This is one of the first that I don't wanna keep tweakin and just play.
Also you can turn on/off an analog limiter-its like having two different tone variations. Limiter on sounds pretty close to a time factor-limiter off sounds like the original nintendo type digital music flavor. Not more noise. Just flavor.

Re: Lexicon MPX G2
I have owned both, my MPX1 bit the bullet a few years ago but I still have the G2.
It's nice but the MPX1 reverb was slightly warmer in my opinion.
The G2 is not a bad unit, the preamp is actually pretty livable for a quick recording session directly in.
I also still have the pedal board for it still in the box if anybody is interested.

Re: Lexicon MPX G2
Good to know. I wonder why Lex stopped this level of processors? They are a very good level unit.
Love for them to come out with a newer more sophisticated version of this now. Todays tech it would be awesome as hell.
I gave the floorboard for it away to Ilovemymarshall a while back. While a great controller that thing is a HODACKER!

Re: Lexicon MPX G2
Lexicon has nothing between the MX400 and the PCM92, they should make something like this again for us guitar players.
I also use my G2 for my wet cab effects and although it's pretty good, I am eying that 92.
The pedal board was a nice hunk of metal with nice stomp switches, maybe I will find a use for it someday.
