Duuuuuuddde. do mine eyes deceive me or do you have the old school wood screw Floyd pivots? Nice. and is that an old school Floyd with the oft-reviled-but-never-duplicated dual-wrench-adjustable old school arm collar? Nice.

If I had time, i would frankenstein it ala 5150 - it has the single HB slot. it would look fantastic. But i rarely have time so the solder would have been dried nary five seconds before i got my grubby paws on it. Put it this way - develop good finish habits early on in life. I've been a slob since day one. Here's what your guitar will look like if you don't finish it:

My first thoughts were to do the 5150 finish. But that ash has such a nice grain, I'd hate to completely cover it up.

Gunstock oil on the neck, clear grain filler on the body. Done.

KNE 5150 and banana neck. Body will not get dirty. I'll finish this someday.

The bonus of the clear is that in 20 years, nobody will be calling Duck season/Rabbit season on the wood type.

'pends if you want nitro or poly

nitro: don't grain fill, reranch or dupli an off-white, thin skin nitro

poly: lots of options. Gunmetal green gray with gold mist, dirtycooter's General Lee is the shit. Great thread on schedules, materials, everything. Def'ly grain fill for poly, with poly you'll want glass finish

I'm partial to the milkwash color, nitro, no fill, see the grain like sushi deal.

What case is that? I'm looking for a case that'll be ok with the banana headstock.

Its a Kramer case from the 90's Gibson 1984's. rgorke has the original body and neck. I just kept all the hardware and pu. I wanted to see what one with ash would sound like. And rgorke got a bangin' deal I must say!
If you've done a lot of sanding you can use poly or nitro. However, ash tends to grain widen and open after you spray the stuff on and you end up sanding all over if you dont like the "glare grain" as I call it.

Yes, did and I am very thankful for it. :worthy: :champ:  :toast: I have been playing it a lot lately. I have an JBJ sticker Duncan in it and an original floyd with the double nut arm but with inserts for the posts.

It sounds great with a little GE-10 in front!!

Of course its a dead nuts candidate for the 5150 treatment for sure.

But what I envision would be totally trick.

do the traditional red, black, white but with all pearlized paints with a perfect clear coat so deep you could swim into it. I think this would be trick as hell while still being very vh approved.

They have these pearl paints in rattle cans if you look online but you would have to do some test pieces with them to see if their worth a shit.
You would have to see if they were nitro compatible-my shimrins was as the color is sandwhiched between nitro base and nitro clear.
If you pulled this off it would look so good you could eat it.
Imagine..... perfect pealized colors, tight perfect mask lines, perfect ultra smooth gloss clear...
Don't forget to grain fill the ash first though before finishing

On the other note I am pissed I did not get ordered soon enough to get a warmoth VW-I SO WANTED To BUILD A QUILT TOP!!
And to me its the only body they made it would look right on for a non gibson style body. :|
