This post by the dirty one has me thinking. Can we dissect this some? (Maybe his lines from 2 1/2 men was code...2 burritos and a root beer float...two echopex and an eq....?

)

Concrete evidence for my "anti reverb use delay only" shtick.
Two tap delay before the term "two tap" was ever coined

Set just right it adds to the feel factor x10 for some things.
Remember he wasn't haulin sunset behind him on a trailer or a plate reverb.
Crafty bastard

Note the EQ in there... in the echo area

I think he was w/d before w/d was even invented. S O a B!!!!!!!!
I think the EQ going INTO an echoplex has a drastic impact on tone. I am also curious as to others who may have tried one or two EP pedals or real Echoplex in front of the amp. I have two EP-3s. I will try futzing with it in the short term (or as soon as my furlough days start kicking in).
Are we talking about just the pre amps or with echo engaged? It can get messy with the echos out of control.
Thoughts?

Dunno what the eq is for unless its for signal boost or conditioning. But yeah I think he had slap and longer settings. I am guessing 100ms and 300ms. One or the other or both. Note Satch does the series short and long dual delay as well. Almost always has.
Maybe the e.q. is to roll off top and bottom more for more ambient echo tone?? If these were slaved w/d then I think maybe this is the case.
Today we have programmable delays with tone controls-if he wanted to jump from one to the other sounds he had to have them set ready to go at the right setting. With eq he had more tonal control off the echos maybe?
of course the preamp section of the ep's come into play here. But I think he struggled for that big ambience live and wanted more space to his sound.
He did talk about collaborating with the engineer on vh1 for "the sound" which may have meant getting that space on his sound.
