Which cones are in that reissue. I've seen both 6402 and 1777 cones in them.
I wished I still had the ones that I sold you. I am kicking myself now. I would love to have a cab with more of those 6402s

"G12T-75 - 1777
G12M - 1777
G12M heritage - 11914
EVH - 11914
G12C - 53H1777
Alnico Blue - 53H1777
early 90s G12M - 6402 (the same as 53H1777 per Duncan Boniface, former
principal engineer for Celestion)
5150/6505 - 169"

...notes I kept in my phone from a couple years ago! doesn't say "chinese G12M" though :what:
did chinese do the ri's having 6402 in the 90s? I thought they were only UK :what:

My TX bud bought a brand new quad of china greens and said "he wasn't falling for nothing else, they're new and perfect, I'm gonna put my OWN damn thumbprint on 'em!"

I find that interesting on the G12Ms from the early 90s? Same as the G12C?

What about the G1265s? What are they?

Mot, my made in england reissues are 53h1777's. So this is the same as the 6402 english??
Fwiw the chinese ones I had were 53h1777 cones too but sounded noticeabley different and not as bright as my english ones.
So I dunno if cones alone make all the difference then. Same cone codes-definitly two different tones. So something other than cone codes make a difference. Not to mention the chinese were less loud. :what:

I don't think Pete was there. He just used a DI track that Pete did. :what:

I liked the 67, the RI and the PVC (although the PVC could have benefited from a little more mids and bass possibly)

George, tx much for posting, a big effort to do that. My ears liked the reissues and the Scums the most. Would be a toss up between those two for me, but of course have to hear them in person. Re: the ASWs, I agree w others I didn't like them in the top clip but did in your second clip. They sounded more old AC/DC-ish to me, if that makes sense, also old ZZ Top-ish. Maybe that's what you meant by taming the amp a bit. Tx again, and of course the amps sound frickin' killer!

I liked the Celestion Heritage and Scumback M75 the best. The Heritage has a nice top end and the M75 a nice midrange.

george could we see shots of the front of the cones

the cone dope on the g12m25 reissue is different older speakers ...these days its rubber/silicone
in the early 70's it was thin latex ... the 20's had none

Big difference right there all else being equal

p
replica ?? I don't need no stinking replica ...

Sorry, I don't think I took pics of the cone side. I'll make sure to do that if we do a G12H shootout this Spring. I will also include a close mic and volume match the clips!

George,
GREAT Shootout! I was kind of surprised by how close most of them sounded. I liked the vintage Greenies the most. That's kind of obvious though. They're the sound that hooked me when I was younger. But most of them sounded really nice. I must say, the ASW was the only one I didn't really care for very much. It sounded like the proverbial wet blanket was draped over the cab. After the vintage Greenie, I really liked the Scumback. But the Heritage and even the Chinese sounded good.
