Moderately priced Frankenstrat build?
My son, who is 11, is beginning to show interest in Ed and his guitars. He asked me if we can build a Frankenstrat replica. I obviously don't want to spend a ton on it. I found this kit, http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1591276891.html. I just figured I'd ask here if anyone knows anything about it, or if there are better options for around that price.

Re: Moderately priced Frankenstrat build?
I would find a black fender squire with a maple neck on Craigslist and throw a humbucker in it. A little modding on your end with the bridge pickup route but would get him 90% there.ledvedder wrote:My son, who is 11, is beginning to show interest in Ed and his guitars. Hacking on a Squire should be cheaper and easier.vanhalen5150 wrote:KNE ash body/maple neck parts, EVH PU($100 new on ebay) I just got one for $89.00,EVH Bournes pot, Gotoh Floyd and tuners. Neck plate and jack. I'm at $610.
