I see a variac sitting over to the left and what looks like his favorite old marshall slant cab to the right. Was cool hearing Ed pitching his own product and some nice close ups of him playing LUTS, how weird is that, Ed actually playing Unchaned instead of the minions of others on youtube playing Unchained. Loved the close up of the power tube pyrotechnics, though I'm not sure what those tubes are for in that amp, it sounded like a solid state or even a modeler. Wow, more gain options! :palm:

What's with the tape on his bridge pickup?

What kind of ambiance is he using on this demo ? Maybe a little reverb ? I really don't hear any delay. When I have tried his delay settings that he is reported to use live on tour, it is just a mess of delay. The demo didn't sound dry. You could really hear the amp and his tone. Any ideas ?

I like it. Posted in the other thread -- modern Marshally for sure. Not the classic mouth-watering Marshall, but I'd have fun playing it....

Edit: the 6L6s are definitely one thing that make it sound modern to my ears. "Flatter" for lack of a better way of saying it. Not as 3D.

Weird how the Variac shows up everywhere eh?

Sounds like line out. So fucking cool seeing Ed talk and play. He's loosened up so much. Good times.

I read on another forum from (I think the source was) tech Kevin Dugan that the tape is there to prevent his strings from getting caught or snagged under the bridge PUPs. I think his PUPs are jacked up pretty high and he really hammers those strings.

I agree with the other posters that it is great to see a relaxed Ed playing and talking about gear. I doubt I will be buying that amp combo, but it was sure cool watching him make the sales pitch.

Just think how much money in sales and jobs that one man alone has generated.

Geez, I watched it 10 times already. I could watch hours of the outtakes.

One huge thing I see is just how he seems to rely predominantly on his left hand for muting of strings that are being played. His right hand seems to be only on the bridge during palm mute chugs.

I kinda like the tone. Is it the same tone as his early stuff, no very different but I like it nonetheless.

Finally, the ebony fretboard looks really shiny and slick. Nothing like his grime filled other Franky or 5150.

'Sorry, I ain't diggin' that tone at all. Don't care for the floppy low-end that he has dialed in with the Resonance control. His playing is great as always though. The old ("brown") tone was so much better. That amp has some really nice features, but "more gain"?? Really??! It already had more gain than is usable. Gain from Hell. And now more? Why??

What ever happened to Ed that said he didn't want more gain/distortion but more sustain. It's amazing that he is doing so many things these days that he was so opposed to in the early years. But people change, I get that... But he had such a good thing going with that Marshall of his.
