VH I Tone From Picking Technique and Mic Placement?!

Post by Sean_McFly » Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:13 pm

Okay I know I've been posting clips like crazy here, but I was messing around today and tried a warmer mic placement, added some bass to the amp's EQ settings for more of a squishy feel/tone, and started picking very close to the bridge and pickup, and what came out was the closest I've ever gotten to the first album tone, I believe!! Take a listen and see for yourselves!

GREAT. And, interetingly, it edges somehow toward FW tone for me. Definitely sounds like VH 1 but what I mean is -- do VH 1 and FW have similar tone in some ways? Never really thought that before. Referring to the last chord and "scratch" at end most. Either way, congrats!
