Just curious if any guys have posted there bands playing live, Ive heard plenty of iso clips from you guys and clips with the VH iso tracks. Just curious to hear some live recordings to hear some of these amps in a band situation. The reason I ask is that Ive found that bedroom playing does not have any bearing on actual live sound or the mix with other instruments.
Ive been jamming around with a group of guys the past couple of months. We are all old over the hill wannabee rock stars(all in our late 40's) regardless its been fun! Ive been recording some practices. Just curious to hear others thoughts and experiences in a band setting using the EVH formula. I'm not a note for note EVH guy, and at best a mediocre player. Ive been around these parts since the get go, and have followed the EVH tone chasing and built a metro and modded the hell out of it over the years following the latest trends on the site. Ive put together a clip of my little group of guys playing a couple of vh songs using three different amps. I'm not really going for the dead nuts EVH sound but I would be curious to hear people thoughts on these different amps and there context in the band situation. Go easy on the singer!! I used three different amps for these live clips. The clips are not all equal as far as sound quality but you can hear the amps. sound and playing get progressively worse. Also there is a second guitar player on all the clips(mostly in the background) and one clip has three guitar players
Marshall 50 watt, Metro 68 spec marshall, and a Friedman 50 watt, I'm sure the differences will be audible, have a listen. I have my preference but all are fun to play. Input welcome, and I would like to hear folks bands.
Redozzman, I liked all of the tones you got on those clips. I liked the first YRGM best though (riff/fills and solo). That, I'm guessing, was the Marshall 50 watter ? The second YRGM was my second favorite. It seemed pretty similar to the first YRGM, so I think that was the '68 spec Metro ? Just guessing. Again, nice crunchy, brown rock tones

I don't consider myself an esteemed member nor do I play it note for note but here's one with my band playing it in the spirit.
We're old guys' too!
'74 Super Lead w/2x12 Creamback M65's, guitar-ash body/maple neck w/Floyd and older Dimarzio SD.

You chose wisely! Ain't talking is the 50 watt Marshall, then the metro, and the last two versions of you really got me are the Friedman, the second of which, I was using a old mxr 6band to boost the mids. I love the Friedman for bedroom stuff but it gets buried in a live situation, it needs major mid boost to hang.

Nicely done, JiMB! I need to get out of the house and see you guys play sometime soon. Let me know where you're playing next, I'll see if I can make it.

Sounding good there JimB
Redozzman, that METRO 50 sounds great. What trannies did you use on it, the Heyboers ?
What year is the Marshall 50 watter ?

The metro is a 100 watt, the ot was what ever came with the kit back in 2008? The Marshall is a 69 smallbox... My favorite amp I have ever owned, , I bought it in 1998, and it was beat up then, best sounding amp I had ever herd in person at that time.
