Hey everyone, I did a quick clip of the EVH Overdrive through my JMP 2203 clone. Went in to the low input. New cables this time! LOL Greenbacks for the speakers. Pretty cool!

It doesn't sound like a Plexi and can still hear the classic JCM stiffness. It's a super great tone by any measure. Great playing too. I have to say EVH and MXR did a great job with this overdrive. I think it's the best I have ever heard and I hate overdrives. They always sound so AM to me. By all the clips I have heard, Pete Thorn etc.. this pedal does it

I think the secret to your brown tone is in those bunged up guitar cables you used on your earlier clip. Another thing that helps is dust on your valves.

Sounds very good for what it is!

Thanks! Yeah, I like what this pedal does. I honestly don't care if it nails EVH. I am starting to look more towards heavy tones like Paul Gilbert Racer X Mr Big stuff. Paul Gilberts tones are another guilty pleasure of mine. Early Racer X stuff... which is all Marshall Modded by Lee Jackson. Even Pauls later tones are great. But its cool that I can get an approximation on the early EVH tone with some of his modern edge. Its a fun pedal and they did it right. I am not in to Overdrives much also. I like some, but not many.Star*Guitar wrote:It doesn't sound like a Plexi and can still hear the classic JCM stiffness. It's a super great tone by any measure. Great playing too. What I need to do is plug in to the high input of the 2203 with some gain already in line, and just crack this open and increase from there. I bet it would be interesting to hear what kind of tones I can get with it on an already distorted channel.
