Damn, what awful news. Huge inspiration to me and countless others, not to mention he’s the reason we’re all here. We’ll miss you Eddie

It hurt when I first heard it , and still I can't hardly believe it, and its gonna take a while to get over this one for sure....I can't believer that, the world is without my "Guitar Hero" anymore. Ed WAS the reason I started playing in 1979, I heard my brothers copy of VH1 and was just blown away. I didn't know how anyone could get that guitar to sound like that, especially ERUPTION. I was only 13 and that Christmas I asked for an electric guitar....I have been plucking my way with one ever since....Ed was such an innovator and influence to thousands of us.. I believe that GOD saw in the future that guitar players had no one to look up to and that guitar players would be very few, and put Edward Van Halen here on this earth so that he could influence us all the way he did...And we needed someone like Ed to get us all playing guitar and really want to play....
BUT its still such a tragedy without him and any more VH songs, to see what Ed could of did, and would of did for us all..

RIP Edward Van Halen, my Guitar Hero, you will be missed by many now and lots more to come..... :( :( :(

Jeff in Daytona Beach Fl.... :(

It felt like I lost a friend in a strange way. Never met the man, didn't know him, but he is a huge part of my musical DNA. Eddie was my guitar teacher, for lack of a better term, as he was for thousands of other people.
Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

I can't believe this thread is so thin. I can only guess it's too much and no point in posting the obligatory "RIP" condolences. Anyways, I love this site but it was always an EVH site in essence, not entirely but in essence. I can only assume the thousands if not millions of posts about Ed and his tone and all that it encompasses is suffice for his passing. :peace:

I still love seeing all the 5150, 6505 and EVH amps out there. Not to mention the pedals, they're top notch. Can't think of any other guitarist that had this much of an influence that'll last for a long time. And people shit on him thinking his drive was monetary. :palm:
