Used components

Post by 5150loveeddie » Mon Aug 30, 2004 6:27 pm

Hi all,

Was wondering if it is a good or bad thing to reinstall used component like tone caps or resistors etc. Or is it better to put back new ones?

Thanx

I just put some old mustards in my '74 and it sounds great. I think the only concern with older carbon comp resistors in that they can drift in value.

Not sure if that's the case for electrolytics though.
Gear:
'74 Super Lead rebuilt with '68 metro board and old stock mustards.
'73 Super Lead
'68 Basketweave with pre rola G12Ms

If you're just doing some tweaking, it's fine to reuse components.

Yeah my concern was for the tone caps as they are broke in in a direction and if swap and replace turn on the other side maybe Santa Claus would appear to me good looking???LOL
