Values for Metal Film resistors

Post by TwinACStacks » Mon Mar 16, 2009 8:12 am

:D On a 50 Watt Plexi build, why are the Vishay Metal films in the Metro store only 1/2 watt but the Carbon films included with the kits are all 1 Watt? What is proper wattage value for these circuits and what Voltage do the Metal films need to be? I see most are rated 350V but there are 500V available from Mouser. Thanx,

Hi Twin

I am not stalking you!

You only need 1/2 watts, but the 1watt carbon films look right - the are the same size as the 1/2 watt carbon comps/Pihers and Iskras that Marshall used.

Only place you need 2watt rated resistors is in the B+ dropping line (Metro sells the grey metal oxide flameproofs for this as well as the larger carbon comps for the vintage vibe 8)

:D Thanx Neikeel. What Voltage do they need to be? I'm going with a Trans that has a 460V B+ and I see the Vishay's are rated 300V but 1/2 Watt 500V are available from Mouser.

Anything over 400v is fine.
