120V to 240V Conversion

Post by axeman2ooo » Sun Oct 22, 2006 10:38 pm

hi
I am building ths amp for a 240V environment
can anyone tell me if any components need to be changed? having some issues with the 120V lamp, do I need a new lap, or a dummy load? any ideas on how to wire this in, as someone suggested that I use the 120V tap for lamp, and the 240V tap for the amp circuit.

does the board convert down to 110V, or do i need to change some values etc?
thanks

The power transformer will put out the proper voltages with the 240VAC tap; no other component changes are required. Your only issue is with the 120VAC lamp.

one would think if they made a 120v lamp that can be found at any radio shack in the states one would also be able to go to a similar type store down under and find a similair type lamp that is correct for that country... a 240v Lamp!

:P
been to Dick Smith, and Jaycar (both large chains) nothing larger than 12V bulbs at both
got details for a Marshall Importer, so will check that out...

You connect your wall voltage to the common and the 240V tap and may connect the lamp between the common and the 120V tap of the primaries - and all's working fine.

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp

okay a bit of butcher work later, and all is well
got a240V lamp, (finally!) and have removed the bulb, and inserted into the 120V bulb casing
seems to look like it will work okay now, so thanks all for your help! :)
