As soon as I hook it up and turn the UA's standby to on I blow the HT fuse in the amp. I contacted Mark and him and I will discuss. But I thought I would post here to see if anyone has any ideas?

Thanks
Nope. I have a Hotplate, Motherload Elemental and and Alex. No such problems.

What happens if you are turned right down on volume and have the UA in the path with no attenuation and slowly bring the vol up (again without attenuation)?
Well... Nothing now! Not sure if it was a fluke or if I have a bad tube that might rear its ugly head again?

I found two of the UA's pots were not tightely secured, so I removed the top chassis to have a peak. I tightened up the nuts so the pots are nice a snug now. I also found when I pulled the cover off that one of the UA's green wires going from the far left lug on the front volume pot was pinched in between the upper and lower chassis housing. The wire is in tact, so I am not sure that had anything to do with it. But all seems fine, at least for now.

As a precaution I searched the forum here for probable causes of HT fuses blowing. So I did some simple tests and all seems ok with the amp.

I tried your advice Neil and nothing happens other than everything is working the way it is suppose too. SO unless it is no longer a problem, or some sort of intermittent issue that may be difficult locate, all is good for now.

I guess time will tell, in the meantime I think I will have some time to make a clip this weekend... This amp is great! I am just grinning from ear to ear!

Another question. Are you using slow-blow fuses? If all is well with the rig, doing so will help.

I was using fast blow... In fact I am down to my last fast blow, currently in the amp. Then all I have left are slow blow. Time to stock back up!

It should be noted... This Ultimate Attenuator is pretty damn transparent. In fact I will go as far to say, I cannot notice any difference in tone. The only thing apparent to me is that with pure volume comes certain magical qualities that nothing will ever be able to replicate at lower volumes. But overall I am impressed with this tool! Good purchase, and Mark Gregg has been great. Good experience so far. He has been quick to respond to my problem.

Well, I just finished building my own head cab for this amp... I have to tell ya, there is not many more things in life as rewarding as a successful build. I'm just beside myself... Can't wait for practice Friday, then we have a show Saturday!

I will get some pics posted of the head cab soon. It turned out great! And I really just winged it.... Although I am a skilled carpenter.

Here it is in all its glory... I am going to stain mine. I think it looks cool just raw like it is now. I guess I will see what I decide to do.

Well got back from vacation, and used today to finish my amp. ( Axeman, you're next!) Here is an almost finished product.... I am going to add some nice leather handles on top, one in the center per usual spot, then two on top going sideways so I can lift it from both ends since they are out of balance when carrying from the center ( the handle on it now is just a fence gate handle temp).

Anyway, I carved two L's with my dremel tool into the front (it has special meaning to me)... Then I proceeded to take a wood burning tool and hit the L's, the middle line (where gold piping typically goes) and then all around the edges. I wanted sort of an old vintage/western feel to it so I wasn't careful with the burning tool. I purposely made little burns outside the lines, and hit the corner areas extra hard. I stained the remainder of the cab this beautiful mahogany brown, then I lacquered the whole thing. Years ago I had a guy from the forum make me a custom nameplate that I never used until now, so I put it on too.

The pictures really do not do it justice, you have to see it in person to really get the whole effect of it... I am really digging the look of this thing, and I think I am going to make more, along this same idea, but I am going to add pistols or bucking horses, maybe some barbed wire burned into the front, you get the idea...

Dude that's bad ass, I like the chard look, I actually wanted to do something like that to a strat neck. Did make your own logo? How about the front were the "L"(s) are, are going to stain that area. Looks good.

Nope I didn't make the logo.... I had a guy make it years ago. He was on the forum here.... I would have to search back through all my old posts to figure out who did it. He made me a couple others too and did a fantastic job. It matches the plexi panels really well. Almost cannot tell the difference.

As far as the front face plate, I am leaving it as is. If I stained it, you would not be able to see the burnt sections. In the close ups you can see where I did some burning, but the stain covers it up.

As far as I am concerned it is complete minus the leather handles I will be installing. I will be working on your head cab this week and hope to have it ready by early to mid next week Art.... Glad you dig it. P.S. I can do something like this for you if you want? I can work with you on ideas if you're interested? Otherwise I will just get the raw head cab sent out....
