Can you use a .1uf/160volt in place of a .1uf/400volt cap

If I have to, I'll just use my .022uf instead, or sozos. Just curious.

The only place it would work is the presence pot. The voltage rating is too low for any other positions.

1) Would there be any tonal difference by using a .1uf/160v instead of a 1.uf/400v on the presence pot?

I picked up 10 NOS .1uf/160v for 15 bucks. If I can use these, that will make my (5) .1uf/400 last a lot longer. Otherwise I wasted my money. Wouldn't be the first time

I plan on going with the 12xxx/68 spec that only uses the one .1uf cap that goes in between the 2 .022 coupling caps and the phase inverter input cap. Then tweeking from there.

2) Could I use these .1uf/160v as coupling caps on lower wattage Marshall Amps, or would they have to be 400v as well?

One of the projects I'm working on is the "RICH AMP"
The "RICH AMP" is is a double 18 watt that uses .01uf as coupling caps.
(There's some MP3s of this amp at this forum, I can't find them anymore.) I thought I could increase the bass by increasing the cap value here if needed. I came up with this idea after reading this at Obsolete's website:
"OUTPUT COUPLING CAPS: Are another component which gets modified or replaced a lot. The lead amps used a .02uF here, where the bass amps used a .1uF."Here's a link to the site

I know .1 is a big jump from .01. I would try .022 first if I wanted more bass. It's good to know what your options are.

So far my NOS Mustard collection consists of:
12 .022/400v
10 .0022/400v
5 .1/400v
8 .1/160v

I'm still looking for some .68/400v (not having much luck)

Other than the .1/160v, and my 68 project, I plan on strickly using these for restoration only. The 68 is going to be a heirloom to stay in the family. My son doesn't know it, but one day it will be his. So this has to be a special amp. That's why I'm going a little overboard with the NOS parts, and MM trannys ect... Hopefully my son will give it to his son one day and tell him how his dad built it for him.
