Question about 68 DIY board

Post by white room » Fri Nov 05, 2004 8:27 am

Hey guys,

I started installing the 68 board in my SLP R/I last night and I have just about got it wrapped up but, the only thing I'm wondering about is the black wire coming off of the input jacks.

When I removed the PCB the black wire was coming off of the input jack and connected to one side of the Rk/Ck on V1 but, George's wiring diagram says to take the wire from the board to the ground lug on the cap under the board.

Which do I need to do?

Is that black wire connected to the board (very first turret on the ground side of the V1 cathode cap/resistor)?

If so you need to ground it somewhere just like George's info cd is telling you or you could even try it on the ground buss wire

Yes, that's the one.

Do you mean grounding it from the input jack termination point to the chassis?

Georges diagram had me confused because it just shows the wire coming off the board to the ground lug on the cap but I wasn't sure what to do about the output jack so for now I just have it going from the jack to Rk/Ck like it originally was with the PCB until I got some info on it.

Well your input jacks must be grounded also and this black wire was connected there as a continuity ground circuit for it....I guess

As long as both are grounded your ok, just make sure your inputs are grounded, normaly on the buss wire (where the pots are...) and the black wire grounded there also or under the board at the lug

You'll find out if not grounded properly later

Oh yeah,I know! That's why I was concerned about it but I should be okay because the jacks are grounded to the vol/tone control ground bus and I have continuity between one end of the Rk/Ck to the chassis.

I just didn't know if there was some other specific reason why the Rk/Ck had to go to the cap ground other than just for ground continuity.( if that makes any sense).
