anybody heard the new(er) paul gilbert "get out of my yard"? got some tasty moments. never liked his tone all that much, it's better on this album, still a bit clanky for my tastes, but he's a machine where proficiency is concerned.

I haven't heard any of his stuff since Mr. Big but I agree about his (lack of) tone. I still have some Racer X stuff on LP! It's not exactly "tasteful" but his technical skills are impressive. It's kind of like watching a car accident happen; it doesn't do anyone much good but it's still fun to watch!

Haven't heard his new release. Great playing, no question there, but his tone was never impressive to me.

i do think think this is probably his best work yet. it is a pretty good array of guitar work. i think the guy has always needed a proper venue for his work, mr big was ok, but just seemed like their best shot at commercializing & that was never really gonna fly.
